Do you have goodclinical leadership and management skills?An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist to join our well established multi-disciplinary team inWest Kent. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently, makeautonomous decisions as required and have experience of working with people with a learning disability.You will be jointly responsible for leading and developing the physiotherapy team. You will have advancedcommunication skills and be motivated and passionate about delivering an excellent and innovative service.We can offer this post as a development role with support for the right candidate, so would welcomeapplications from those currently in a Band 6 role who have relevant clinical experience and are looking to takethe step forward into a Band 7 role.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job:o To provides specialist physiotherapy assessment and interventions to enable people to live their lives fullyand maximise a person's quality of life.o To work with people with learning disabilities, their families and paid carers in a range of communitysettings as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team.o To manage the physiotherapy input to the multi-disciplinary team to give clinical advice and support to otherprofessionals, support workers and the clients' care networks.o To supervise and manage the work of other physiotherapy staff, support workers and physiotherapystudents where these members of staff are placed in the area of clinical responsibility for the post holdero To be jointly responsible for the day to day running and development of the West Kent LD physiotherapyservice.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered health care professional - HCPC registration. Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy. Evidence of experience and learning relevant to area of practice evidenced through self-learning and/ or attendance at courses. Examples of relevant learning for this post include but are not limited to: Falls, 24-hour posture management, Bobath / relevant Neuro training, Aquatic Therapy, rebound therapy, orthotics / postural management equipment training, Dementia, Autism awareness, Management or supervisory qualification / programme of study.


Desirable

  • Working towards Master level study


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in area of practice , Experience of leading and managing teams, Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads, Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages, Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor ) experience


Desirable

  • Experience of developing policy and service development plans with practical experience of change management


Special Knowledge and expertise

Essential

  • Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance relevant to Learning Disabilities and its application across health care services, Evidence of understanding of specialist guidance and standards relevant to Learning disabilities, Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months, Proven ability to develop effective partnerships to achieve practical outcomes across organisational boundaries including statutory organisations, external agencies, community and voluntary organisations

  • Ability to manage time effectively, priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines, Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors including areas of social deprivation, Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups, Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
