Patient Safety Midwife

Under the direction of the Lead Midwife for Quality Assurance, Governance and Compliance or equivalent, you will be responsible for the provision of practical support, expertise and facilitation to the Division, across a wide range of patient safety and quality improvement

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the implementation and monitoring of compliance with the Quality Governance requirements in the Trust, providing Divisional support in accordance with the relevant Trust strategies and policies with specific focus on risk management, incidents management, CAS/patient safety alerts, claims management, compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS) standards, policy development and updating, learning lessons from incidents and complaints, and improvement following audit.
Ensure that all incidents and near misses are reported by staff within the area of responsibility in accordance with the Trust policy and support the investigation of PSIIs, ensuring appropriate action plans are developed and monitored, and lessons are learned and disseminated.
Produce monthly reports on incident reporting to support Specialty review of trends and facilitateanalysis of all incidents and to communicate and share Trust wide lessons learnt and practice changesas required.
Support the maintenance of the divisional risk registers in liaison with the Lead Midwife for Quality Assurance, Governance and Compliance, Head of Midwifery, Divisional Managers, Divisional Directors, and Patient Safety team.
