We provide a free breast screening service for women in Camden, Hackney and the City, Islington, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest (East and North Central London) for women aged between 50-71 (first invitation issued by 53rd birthday). The screening service is part of a National Breast Screening Programme and is responsible for making sure women receive your appointment invitations. The breast screening service is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital, part of the Royal Free Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust Group, and we invite more than 60,000 women for breast screening each year. To enable women to be screened closer to home, we have screening sites across the local area.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to level 3 (A-Levels, National Certificate/Diploma etc.) in relevant subject or at least a year's experience of working at a similar level


Desirable

  • Relevant Degree


Skills and aptitudes

Essential

  • Able to sustain meticulous attention to accuracy and detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing
  • Good interpersonal and listening skills
  • Working on own initiative and organising own workload to meet deadlines
  • Able to compose correspondence/ reports/ policies/procedure
  • Ability to develop work plans for all routine activities to ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Good understanding of general office working procedures


Desirable

  • Ability to support project management
  • Ability to prepare and give oral presentations
  • Understanding of NHS systems and software programmes Trust and HR policies


Experience

Essential

  • Previous demonstrable experience of designing significant complex numerical data analysis and interpretation and presentation of results both verbally and in writing
  • High level of expertise in the use of windows-based computer applications (especially MS, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Experience of dealing sensitively with client/patient concerns in emotive and distressing circumstances.
  • Undertaking audits and using principles of audit
  • Demonstrate awareness of issues around confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Experience of undertaking detailed, intensive work in a busy administrative environment


Desirable

  • Experience of Staff /Team Management
  • Good knowledge of the NHS Breast Screening programme
  • Good knowledge of the National Breast Screening Computer System (NBSS) and its operation
