The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills, alongside a good sense of humour and team focused.

The Department has a good skill mix including advanced and specialist Podiatrists, Podiatry assistants and administrative staff. Currently we maintain high risk, biomechanics and nail surgery caseloads. As a specialist podiatrist you will triage and treat a variety of podiatric problems and provide foot health education to patients and other stakeholders.

Opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in specialist areas are available by our close links with the multi-disciplinary diabetic foot team and North Cumbria MSK service.

Main duties of the job

  • Formulate and deliver individual treatment plans using assessment, reasoning and clinical decision-making using your specialist knowledge and evidence based practice and guidelines.
  • Evaluate patient progress, re-assess and alter treatment plans using evidence based medicine/guidelines and recognise when additional support and advice is needed.
  • To be responsible for the escalation of patients presenting with complex conditions outside the scope of practice (expertise/knowledge and skills) to an advanced podiatrist/appropriately experienced podiatrist.
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients/service users in your care
  • To undertake self-directed/lone working in a variety of locations, including patients' homes.
  • Plan and organise efficiently and effectively own clinical caseload.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient record

Enhanced Check: �38 + administration cost of �3.90 = �41.90. Deducted at �11.90 from 1st month salary and �10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • oBSc Podiatric Medicine or equivalent qualification
  • oHealth Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • oLocal anaesthesia certificate


Desirable

  • Pharmacology certificate
  • Certificate in radiology (IRMER)


Knowledge & experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working in the NHS
  • Knowledge and experience in the assessment, diagnosis and management of high-risk foot
  • Knowledge of UK NHS Podiatry services
  • Understanding of Primary care
  • Understanding of relevant NHS Policies


Desirable

  • Experience working in a specialist area

  • The ability to work at and travel to various sites throughout North Cumbria.
