We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join a team of Psychologists working in the complex musculoskeletal pain / persistent pain management pathway within Tyneside Integrated Musculoskeletal Service. We offer a range of psychological approaches to support patients living with persistent pain. We work closely with our physiotherapy, occupational therapy and medical colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job would be to support the psychology team in:
- the preparation, delivery and auditing of group-based pain management programme
- the development, recording and monitoring outcome measures for group and 1:1 psychological interventions
- triaging patients referred to the psychology pathway for suitability for short-term psychological work around pain management
- the development, delivery and evaluation of in-service training for colleagues
- service-based research projects as well as projects linked with Doctorate in Clinical Psychology courses at Teesside and Newcastle universities.

- Providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
- To assist in clinical related administration, conduct of audits, data quality work, teaching and project work.

- Single honours degree (upper second class or higher) in psychology
Desirable
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Paid or voluntary experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist or alongside a Clinical Psychologist
- Computer literate with experience of using Microsoft Office and statistical packages for data analysis
- Experience of conducting literature searches and reviews
Desirable
- Experience of working with patient groups with psychological difficulties
- Experience of working with groups
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Knowledge of developmental processes from childhood to old age
- Understanding the needs of individuals with psychological difficulties
