We are looking for dynamic and highly skilled Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists, experienced in all aspects of musculoskeletal management and is forward thinking with the skills to combine highly-specialist clinical practice with innovation. You will be committed to following best practice and the promotion of high-quality physiotherapy services.

As a clinical leader you will have demonstrable leadership qualities and excellent communication and time management skills, with proven abilities to build networks across sites and disciplines. Through your knowledge of emerging clinical advances within the specialty, you will be expected to advise and inform strategic planning and future service development.

Job Summary/Job Purpose:

Working as an autonomous practitioner managing patients with highly specialised complex needs in a variety of care settingsAneurin Bevan University Health board is facing changes in light of clinical futures and there will be more integrated working between MSK Therapy teams, primary care, urgent care and minor injury units, to help support people with MSK conditions.

Postholders will have the opportunity to work across core physiotherapy childrens MSK outpatient services, triage for self-referral and secondary care MSK referral pathways, urgent primary care systems and minor injury units.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates have an amazing opportunity develop a job plan to develop their skills further, working as an autonomous practitioner or collaboratively with other professions e.g., GPs, consultants, nurses and other AHPs to provide expert patient centred musculoskeletal care for people with highly specialised complex needs in a variety of care settings including
  • Community outpatient physiotherapy service
  • MSK community multi-disciplinary triage of self-referrals
  • First contact practitioner within urgent primary care hubs, GP practices and minor injuries units

The successful candidate will be expected to provide training, education, supervision and appraisal for staff and students within across all musculoskeletal service delivery areas and as part of the role contribute to the development of professional practice and the transformation and evaluation of service delivery and support research and innovation agenda.

In turn, they will be supported by a network of Clinical Lead physiotherapists, principal podiatrist, clinical sonographers (podiatry and physiotherapy), consultant physiotherapist, GP leads within primary care and consultant nurse responsible for minor injuries services.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Diploma/ Degree in physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration.
  • Advanced accredited training at masters level or equivalent
  • Accredited post graduate specialist courses/ training relevant to role


Desirable

  • MSc within relevant specialty
  • Post-graduate qualification up to post grad diploma level in relevant area
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • IRMER Trained
  • Injection therapy qualification
  • Competency as non-medical referrer
  • Qualified sonographer
  • Relevant leadership courses/ qualifications


Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-graduate experience relevant to specialty
  • Significant experience managing a complex caseload working within relevant specialty
  • Experience in multi-agency team working within specialist area
  • Evidence of supporting clinical governance requirements including codes of conduct
  • Leadership of relevant networks/ practice groups
  • Experience in audit and service evaluation
  • Experience in research
  • Experience in staff development including education
  • Experience in supervision
