Brant Ward is an 18 bedded acute assessment ward for older adults experiencing complex mental health problems. We are within the Older Persons and Frailty division and we have been given the exciting opportunity to increase our establishment of nursing staff! Brant Ward has embarked upon developing person centred, evidence-based practice ensuring that the patient is at the centre of all we do making this an ideal time to join our team. Brant Ward is a pivotal part of the acute care pathway working closely with our Home Treatment Team to ensure the highest quality care.

Main duties of the job

- To be clinical leader of the nursing team providing care for people with severe mental illness and mental health problems

- To provide clinical services that work within the policies, protocols and clinical procedures of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust.

- To work as part of an MDT team providing a user-focused, accessible and responsive acute nursing service that is safe, supportive and competent for people who experience acute mental health problems.

- To assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for those who are experiencing acute mental health needs, within agreed limitations.

- Patterns of working will be by arrangement and may include evenings, weekends, bank holidays.

- Provides management supervision to junior staff.

- To take on a Champion role of a special interest of yours - this could be: physical health, wound care, therapeutic interventions, safeguarding, care planning, and with this role you have the opportunity to lead on improvements on the ward and really stretch your practice.

Job responsibilities

Our focus of care is to provide assessment and treatment for our patients in a safe and compassionate environment. We are committed to delivering person centred care around the values of the 6 Cs and the Senior nurse role is critical to this.

The successful candidate(s) must be able to lead a team forward with these values, helping develop our vision to create a centre of excellence, to aim for and maintain high standards of care.

The candidate(s) will be part of the Brant Ward management team providing the focus and direction for the wards. The ability to be innovative and creative within this service is desired. Managerial, supervisory and leadership skills are essential, with a clear focus on providing clinical direction to the teams.

It is important that the successful candidate has a clear understanding of the Trusts priorities and the strategic direction over the coming years.

The hours are 37.5 per week worked on a shift basis to cover 24 hour period to include nights and weekends.

A full induction package will be offered, access to training, regular supervision, annual appraisal and a commitment to developing staff to their full potential.

The salary for these posts is depending upon relevant experience.

Qualifications

Essential

• RMN or RNLD or RN: 1st Level Registration (NMC) or degree or equivalent
• Mentorship Module (degree level)
• Evidence of specialised continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice

Desirable

• Certificate in clinical supervision
• Management Training

Experience

Essential

• Relevant experience of working with adults with mental health needs. Or clear evidence of substantial experience of working with individuals in crisis and skills that are transferable to both the community/in-patient. Highly developed clinical reasoning skills.
• Sound knowledge of the national agenda for mental health
• Sound knowledge of clinical/risk assessment and understanding of Information Governance principles.

Desirable

• Experience of working within mental health care within the NHS
