This is an exciting opportunity for a catering dietitian to join the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust and be part of team driving improvements in nutrition and hydration for patients, staff and visitors. Working as part of the Facilities team, this part time, flexible role offers the opportunity to travel to multiple sites while working agilely from home.
The post holder will work in collaboration with the Catering and Dietetic Teams as the Trust Lead Catering Dietitian. Ensuring all hospital menus are nutritionally adequate and reflect best practice guidelines including hospital food standards, allergen information and International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) recommendations.
The post holder will act as a source of expertise in the analysis, development and review of hospital and care setting menus and work with wider multidisciplinary teams to promote food first principles across the Trust.
The post holder will have clinical understanding of various specialist patient groups to ensure menu options are appropriate to meet dietary requirements, identifying, involving, and liaising with the relevant stakeholders regarding gaps in catering provision and communicating available menu and support options.
Main duties of the job
Working with the Trust Catering Team to enhance and optimise patient menu design to improve the care of inpatients. Working alongside the dietetic and catering teams to lead with:
The deliverance of catering initiatives that align with the trust Nutrition and Hydration Steering Group.
Ensuring all hospital menus are nutritionally adequate and reflect best practice guidelines including hospital food standards, allergen information and IDDSI recommendations.
Menu analysis and coding of menus ensuring that menus align with the requirements of the local population for religious, cultural, and therapeutic needs.
Menu and electronic meal ordering co-design to optimise the patients' access to nutritional information.
Food tasting and trials supporting menu development and menu-based initiatives.
Development and evaluation of nutritious drinks, snacks and out of hours food strategies
The development of catering initiatives linked to staff and patient experience in line with the BDA Work Ready Programme, PLACE and the BDA Nutrition and Hydration Digest.
Interprets and incorporates new national policy, guidelines, and best practice standards into local work.
Works with the wards, catering, speech and language therapy and dietetics to evaluate and audit current service and to identify future service changes/ improvements.

BSc/MSc Nutrition and Dietetics or Equivalent
Current HCPC registration or Nutrition Register.
Knowledge and skills
