**Harefield hospital**

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Cardiac Physiologist to expand their skills and knowledge in both invasive and non-invasive cardiology.

The Cardiac Department provides a wide range of diagnostic procedures including:
  • All non-invasive testing.
  • Coronary intervention, including a busy 24/7 primary PCI service, TAVI, mitral clips, PFO closure and implantation of Impella and ECMO assist devices in the cardiac catheter labs.
  • Pacemaker and complex device insertion (ICD/SICD/CRT) and follow up clinics/ remote monitoring. We have a physiologist led ILR implantation service.
  • Transplant and VAD assessments, including CPEX testing and transplant right heart catheter assessments.

The successful candidate will initially work directly under supervision in the non-invasive and transplant sections of the department. Thereafter, following internal sign-off against competenices, will work indepently or as part of a team.

After internal sign-off and training, the post-holder will participate in theatre-based DCCV lists, become trained and competent in ward-based requirements including temporary pacing checks and the checks of permanent implantable devices.

The post-holder will then spend time in outpatient pacing clinics, and the invasive Cath lab. The individual will work under direct supervision initially and work towards internal sign-off through competency based assessment.

Main duties of the job

A period of supervised training, assessment and competencies before undertaking autonomous performance of:

- Non-invasive and transplant cardiology testing and reporting.

- Ward and theatre based testing and reporting.

- Pacing clinic device interrogation, analysis and reporting (supported by senior personnel).

- Interventional Cath lab patient monitoring, procedural documentation and where necessary, the delivery of life-saving therapies through defibrillation, CPR and pacing (supported by senior personnel).
