This is an exciting opportunity to be the strategic and professional lead for adult working-age Psychology provision within Acute Inpatient and Crisis and Home Treatment First Response services in one of two localities (Wirral or East Cheshire). These are two brand new 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist Lead posts for working-age adults and demonstrates CWPs commitment to improving the psychological and trauma informed care provided to patients, families and staff in the acute services pathway. These posts represents the first phase in creating an established and sustainable Psychology workforce within the acute adult pathway.
Main duties of the job
As the Consultant Clinical Psychologist Lead you will be responsible for providing clinical, professional and strategic leadership in developing and maintaining systematic, high quality and comprehensive psychology services for adults within the acute working age pathway. You will be based in an inpatient service and work with the locality senior leadership team(s) and specialty clinical network to enhance and evaluate the psychological care offer across acute inpatient wards, respite and urgent care services provided by the multi-professional workforce and in overall service planning and transformation across the locality and specialty. Providing training, consultancy, supervision and support to multi-professional staff, teams and managers will be essential, as will taking a strategic and pragmatic approach to service evaluation, audit and research as part of on-going quality improvement. You will also provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention, and input to care and treatment planning and discharge planning for individual patients, working as part of the multidisciplinary team and as an autonomous specialist Consultant.

There are strong connections to the three main DClinPsy regional training programmes (Liverpool, Lancaster and Manchester). You will join the CWP Consultant Psychologists and Consultant Psychotherapists Group, a newly established, dynamic group with responsibility for developing and ensuring effective governance of psychological service provision across CWP. Clinical and professional supervision will be provided, and on-going continuing professional development supported.

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS - including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Registered with the HCPC.
Desirable
- Post-doctoral training in one of more additional relevant specialised areas of psychological practice.
- Leadership and/or management qualification.
Knowledge and Expertise

- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment (including use of cognitive/neuropsychological tests, when appropriate), formulation, intervention and evaluation frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological approaches relevant to people across the full spectrum of psychological problems.
