We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced midwife to co lead the practice development team within maternity services at CDDFT, with a focus on the North of the Trust. This is an exciting mixed clinical post that seeks a midwife with significant clinical experince in all areas of maternity services with evidence of a teaching/mentoring qualification and Masters level qualification in a relevant subject (or ability to work towards). This post focuses on the provision of leadership and skilled midwifery advice, care and support to mothers, birthing people, babies and colleagues. The post holder will offer leadership, expert advice and continuous support to all staff working within maternity services
Main duties of the job
The post holder will co-lead the multidisciplinary programme of education, training and development of maternity unit staff including promoting excellence in evidence based midwifery care and facilitating service development.
The post holder will co-lead the programme of preceptorship for newly qualified midwives and internationally educated midwives joining the organisation.
Work clinically across the maternity services to advance clinical midwifery standards, implement and develop good practice and service initiatives.
Work clinically with individual staff in the clinical environment, for example with newly qualified midwives, return to practice midwives and those requiring supported practice whilst fostering a positive learning environment for all.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
