The clinical work consists of a varied caseload including in-patient, out-patient and community referrals through older peoples and adult services. Supervision for the post will come from an established team consisting of a physiotherapy team leader, a clinical lead physiotherapist, a specialist physiotherapist and a senior physiotherapy assistant based in the locality.

Main duties of the job
An experience of working in a mental health or learning disabilities setting would be useful but not essential. The successful post holder will gain valuable experience assessing & treating, under supervision, a whole host of clinical conditions from respiratory, neurological, MSK, rheumatological to falls assessments and gait rehab. There is a strong network of allied health professionals across the Trust with clear professional leadership and regular supervision within the profession. The Trust offers excellent opportunities for continuing development and training alongside specific In-Service training provided within each area.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be a core member of the physiotherapy service providing specialist therapeutic interventions to adults and older people with mental health problems.
1. Clinical
1.1. To ensure therapeutic interventions are of a high professional standard, informed by evidence based practice and involves the service user and carer in all aspects of the care programme
1.2. To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the effect of disability providing training and advice on lifestyle changes/adaptations to the clients social and physical environments
1.3. To undertake specific standardised and non standardised assessments to formulate the overall treatment plan in conjunction with the service user
1.4. To interpret the assessment results in order to plan and implement a client centred treatment programme on an individual and/or group basis using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals
1.5. To contribute to a co-ordinated team approach throughout the assessment and in meeting the service users needs including developing and maintaining close working relationships with all relevant services and agencies.
1.6. To participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of clinical interventions
1.7. To continue clinical interventions where necessary to assist in the transition of skills from an inpatient setting to living independently within the community
1.8. To work effectively within the multi-agency team ensuring that both written and verbal communication is clearly maintained to ensure a seamless service
1.9. To be responsible for the maintenance of appropriate clinical records concerned with service user treatment, in accordance with risk management documentation guidelines
1.10. To attend appropriate clinical team meetings, referral meetings, case conferences, care programme approach meetings and any other as required by clinical need and as directed by the Line/Service Manager
1.11. To provide accurate and timely reports, statistical data through the electronic Clinical Information System and other information as required
1.12. To participate in monthly clinical supervision and to provide clinical supervision to other therapy staff and Support Workers
