As a result of internal promotion and creation of new posts, we have some exciting opportunities for band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to join our innovative and supportive team working with adults in rotational posts in a variety of acute and community settings of West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to consolidate skills and knowledge with a range of patients with communication and swallowing difficulties on a rotational basis across acute and community services in West Suffolk. Each rotation will give you the opportunity with support as required to develop a wide knowledge base and a range of skills within the field of adult acquired disorders.
You will work closely with our team of Speech and Language Therapists and as part of the multidisciplinary team at West Suffolk Hospital and the Disability Resource Centre. Senior colleagues will support your learning and development.
Main duties of the job
To fulfil the role of senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will have experience of working in the assessment, differential diagnosis and management of dysphagia and communication impairments in the hospital and/or community setting. You will have an opportunity to become competent in instrumental assessment of swallow (videofluoroscopy and FEES. You will display excellent communication, training, organisational and teamwork skills. You will also participate in provision of student placements and clinical supervision of junior colleagues.
West Suffolk SALT is a growing team which is fully integrated across hospital and community services embedded within therapy services. We are committed to professional development and evidence-based practice which is demonstrated through regular departmental and joint training sessions, the employment of new initiatives and the constant review and improvement of the service.
Applicants must have current HCPC and RCSLT registration and be able to show evidence of CPD.
Bury St Edmunds is a historic town with modern leisure facilities and a good mix of housing is available. The town has excellent transport links with easy road and rail access.

STAFF CAR PARKING
Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 18:30.
For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.
This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete on call duties within their role.
