THERAPY SERVICE
Full time - 37.5 hours - flexible working
BAND 6 Physiotherapist - Rapid assessment and discharge team
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Physiotherapist to join our large established team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists working in our well established, supportive rapid assessment and discharge team. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team who provide assessments and interventions to facilitate safe and effective discharge from our Emergency department and other wards based on the Emergency Floor at Leicester Royal Infirmary,
Main duties of the job
You will demonstrate excellent communication, prioritisation and time management skills. This post will be suitable for a candidate who has a wide range of rotational experience, particularly with older people with a variety of comorbidities for example Parkinson's, falls and fractures.
You will join a supportive team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in Rapid assessment and discharge team. You will receive regular supervision, appraisal and be encouraged to be involved in service development, audit and research. You will be expected to support and supervise other staff as well as provide practice placements for students.
The successful candidate would need to be flexible in their working as the service is provided over 7 days a week. The team are working to provide a collaborative approach to therapy across all systems.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To be part of the Physiotherapy team serving acute medicine specialty.
- This may include rotations within the acute medicine and RADs specialties based at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital
- To carry a clinical caseload: working to national and local guidelines and Service priorities with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties.
- To support the team leader and clinical specialist and operational functions of the team and supervise and team members.
- To promote independence and facilitate optimum function, working with patients, families and carers and the multi-disciplinary team to achieve agreed outcomes for patients.
- To increase and consolidate existing clinical knowledge and skills in respiratory assessment and treatment as a physiotherapist.
