The Essex Community Adult Eating Disorders Service is developing the FREED pathway (First episode Rapid Early intervention for Eating Disorders), alongside the existing service.This post covers the service in the mid and south areas of Essex.
The post holder will have primary responsibility for ensuring its smooth and effective implementation. This will involve considerable liaison with primary care services, education and promotion of a new treatment pathway. The post holder manages all referrals for this pathway and offers initial triage, as well as providing a clinical service to people experiencing an eating disorder.

Main duties of the job
- The post holder is based with the expanding Community Adult Eating Disorder Service. The primary focus for the post holder is in working with clients accessing treatment through the FREED pathway, though the post holder will also contribute to, and is part of, the broader team.
- In addition the post holder is responsible for liaising and working with other professionals as appropriate, alongside the promotion and development in the service of the FREED approach.
- You will lead with other senior colleagues the continuing development of a high quality service that is underpinned by evidence based practice and care pathways / packages and NICE guidance and DH guidance leading on service development and policy in conjunction with the other senior clinicians, and Service Lead.
- You will also have responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and management of lower banded staff within your team as required by your manager, this may include the management of these staff in line with agreed Trust HR processes.

Job responsibilities
- To manage all referrals accessing the service via the FREED pathway, including initial triage and subsequent allocation
- To lead a regular FREED Huddle in the North Essex locality, bringing together all clinicians involved in the FREED service delivery
- Assess patients referred to the service and co-produce appropriate treatment plans.
- Use appropriate evidence based treatment such as MANTRA, CBT-E, SSCM etc.
- Manage and oversee care of service users with highly complex needs.
- Produce accurate and timely documentation, conduct and manage the maintenance of accurate and timely documentation/records on all service users in line with your Professional Code of Conduct and Trust policy
- Conduct and supervise assessment and observation to ensure appropriate and timely feedback to the team
- Conduct, supervise and oversee risk assessments of the individual highly complex cases and the potential hazards in the service users environment
- Provide professional clinical leadership at multi-disciplinary meetings i.e. referral/ review/business, professional or safeguarding meetings
- Report and document incidents as required and act upon findings as appropriate
- Act as a care coordinator in highly complex cases
- Assess and review care and support and supervise lower banded staff in this process
- Provide practical support, guidance and education for services users, carers and other professionals as required.

Qualifications
Essential
- Qualification in a core mental health profession (mental health nursing, occupational therapy, clinical/counselling psychology, systemic psychotherapy)
- Professional registration (with e.g. NMC, HCPC, UKCP)
Desirable
- Trained in the use of MANTRA, CBT-E, SSCM or other therapy approach
Knowledge

- Detailed knowledge of risks specific to people with eating disorders
