The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. The Chelsea Radiotherapy department has 4 TrueBeam linacs, one with exactrac for SRS, a Cyberknife and a Brachytherapy Suite. We have a Siemens Confidence CT scanner and utilise multi modality imaging for planning.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, caring and highly motivated therapy radiographer to work as a Band 7 team leader.We are looking for a practitioner with an excellent technical background, advanced imaging competencies and the ability to manage a complex treatment unit, whilst providing strong leadership to a team of staff. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and will have exemplary communication and patient care skills. In addition, this role requires someone confident in leading the delivery of advanced radiotherapy techniques such as SABR, SRS/T, IMRT, VMAT and breath-hold (VIBH) as well as experience of IGRT including both EPI and CBCT in a quality driven environment.

Main duties of the job
When they are working as a Senior I clinical practitioner they will be responsible for the radiotherapy processes at and the operational management of a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a CT scanner, or a treatment preparation area. They will supervise the immediate radiographic team including students, aides and visitors on a rotational basis, ensuring that the practise of all results in the radiotherapy processes at their work base being performed accurately as prescribed.
The post-holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with superintendent radiographers.

As clinical lead at the work base to be responsible for evidence based decision making within prescribed limits. Be competent to analyse and approve images following designated training and adhering to protocols.
Responsible for the accurate preparation, planning and delivery of treatment by self and by all members of the immediate team.
Set high standards of technical expertise, acting as role model to junior staff members. To be responsible for maintaining professional standards of self and other team members.
Responsible for the training of team members in the operation of all equipment safely and efficiently as per manufacturers instructions, including local guidelines, under the guidance of superintendent radiographers.
Meet the regulatory responsibilities defined for an operator as delegated by the Trust under the IR(ME)R regulations. With appropriate experience may also be defined as a practitioner for concomitant exposures.
Make evidence based decisions within the prescribed scope of practice. Analysis and approval of planning and treatment verification images, following designated training and adhering to work instructions and protocols.

- HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer (requires BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent accredited programme)
- Significant experience as a Senior II in a complex department, competent in IGRV , IMRT technologies
- Post graduate qualification/training in assessing/supervising/teaching (may be completed after appointment)
- Demonstrate understanding of the advanced principles for sophisticated radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery.
- Participated in a quality management programme
- Previous experience of participating in clinical education of preregistration students
