Main duties of the job

? Lead with Vision: Provide specialist OD advice and interventions to support Integrated Clinical Networks and corporate Directorates, ensuring the delivery of strategic objectives and cultural change initiatives.

? Drive Transformation: Spearhead Trust-wide OD and change initiatives, enhancing staff engagement, satisfaction, and wellbeing to achieve performance excellence.

? Be the Change: Lead cultural and organizational change, fostering a compassionate and inclusive workplace that aligns with Trust values and national strategic objectives.

? Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with the Workforce and OD senior management team to address the root causes of workforce issues and deliver holistic programmes of work.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership and Management of the Organisational Development Service:
  • Inspire and Lead: As part of the Workforce and OD Senior Leadership Team, provide strong, visible leadership to maximize individual contributions and meet development needs.
  • Performance Excellence: Oversee core business and projects, ensuring the OD service delivers proactive and effective support to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Foster effective working relationships within teams and with internal partners, demonstrating leadership behaviors that align with Trust values.
HR Business Partner Function:
  • Innovative Strategies: Lead on workforce strategies, including inclusive recruitment and effective retention strategies to support a thriving workforce.
  • Wellbeing Focus: Develop bespoke wellbeing strategies for Networks to support staff in achieving their best.
Leadership and Talent Development:
  • Capability Building: Design and deliver leadership and management development training to enhance team performance and foster an integrated approach to OD.
  • Talent Management: Implement a talent management and succession planning approach to identify and develop talent at all levels.
Staff Engagement and Wellbeing:
  • Engagement Programmes: Ensure the Trusts team Engagement Programme is embedded and insights from staff surveys are used to enhance engagement levels.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Lead the development of the Trusts Staff Health and Wellbeing Strategy, promoting an inclusive and supportive culture.
General Duties:
  • Adapt and Evolve: Be prepared to undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the band, supporting the Trust's strategic goals and ensuring compliance with all policies and guidelines.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • High level of general education to masters level in OD or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of CPD within the last 2 years
  • Member status of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or equivalent professional, accredited. recognised body
  • Accredited Coach qualification


Desirable

  • Psychometric testing training


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience gained in a progressive HR/OD function.
  • An understanding of the strategic approach to Workforce Development
  • Detailed understanding of the principles of change management and ability to demonstrate a successful track record of organisational change.
  • Substantial experience of effectively working at management level in the field of learning and organisational development for an organisation of relevant scale and complexity.
  • Evidence of success in leading and implementing transformational change within a large and complex division, including service and workforce redesign.
  • Substantial experience of delivering strategic objectives for a diverse and complex Department
  • Substantial experience and evidence of successful learning and Organisational Development initiatives to deliver Trust goals and objectives
  • Demonstrable experience in managing budgets and departmental resources
  • Demonstrable success in building, leading, motivating and developing multi-disciplinary teams and as a highly effective people manager
  • Up to date knowledge of HR and OD issues from a best practice perspective
  • Excellent verbal communication, influencing, collaboration and negotiating skills
  • Outstanding presentation skills.
  • The ability to work as a team member, both within teams internally and as an accomplished participant in cross-agency teams.
  • The ability to work with senior management, clinical colleagues and other staff, to make sound judgements and respond positively to a rapidly changing environment
  • Experience of managing a HRD team and responding to a rapidly evolving workforce development agenda


Knowledge

Essential

  • Partnership working and working knowledge of the National Strategies and other supporting initiatives
  • Innovative thinking and the ability to explore imaginative ways of optimising use of resources
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodation changes to role and responsibilities as the management structure develops further.
  • An understanding of the national NHS agenda and the Workforce Development contribution
  • Empathy towards the needs of people who use the Trust's services
  • Ability to recognise discrimination in all its forms and put equal opportunities policy into practice


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Previous experience of responding to continuously changing priorities and challenging deadlines
  • Ability to manage a high volume of enquiries both internal and external
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions
  • Demonstrable ability to concentrate for long periods on a frequent basis on report writing, analysis of information etc


Work Related Circumstances

Essential

  • Previous experience of frequent use of VDU
  • Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
  • Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
  • Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced DBS disclosure.
