We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 5 OccupationalTherapist to join our Children's Therapy team on a permanent basis in York. The successful candidate will be joining a friendly, innovative and child-centred therapy team , which covers both the York and Selby locality and delivers high quality compassionate clinical care for children and young people from 0-18 years, with a variety of neurological and developmental difficulties.
You will be working with pre-school and school aged children with a range of conditions and therapy needs in a variety of settings, which may include hospital clinics, patient homes, mainstream and special schools and nurseries.
This post would suit a Band 5 with an interest in working with children and young people, who is looking to develop specialist clinical skills. We have an established support network within the Therapy team and a strong commitment to supporting personal and professional development through the in-service training programme, regular clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be part of a skilled multi-professional therapy team providing a high quality therapy service. You will provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for children and young people referred to the children's therapy team.
You will be responsible for your own clinical caseload, and be able to demonstrate clinical reasoning based on evidence based-practice.Excellent communication skills are required to help with sensitive situations, to support working with patients of different age groups and assist multi-disciplinary team working. Excellent organisational skills are essential to enable you to manage your diary effectively.
Experience working with children and young people of all ages is desirable but not essential for this post.
Support and training will be provided by Senior clinical staff within the team. You will have access to regular clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal opportunities to identify objectives within the four pillars of practice. We encourage innovative practice and you will be supported accordingly to develop in your role.
You would be expected to participate in ongoing service development activities and the regular in-service training programme. You also will have the opportunity to contribute to the supervision of junior staff and students.The ability to transport yourself is a requirement for this role.

- Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
Desirable
- Evidence of postgraduate training within Occupational Therapy or Paediatric specialty
- Practice placement supervisor qualification
- Membership of Professional body
- Evidence of relevant CPD activities
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential
- Evidence of knowledge relevant to role.
- Experience in a wide range of occupational therapy student placements.
- Good working knowledge of Occupational Therapy process and experience in delivering Occupational therapy including assessment, clinical reasoning, intervention, evaluation, and models of practice
Desirable
- NHS experience in Paediatric Occupational Therapy through placement and/or employment work
- Experience in assessment and provision of equipment
- Evidence of clinical and knowledge skills within relevant area
