An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) role in the Emergency Department at the RUH. We are looking for an experienced professional from a paramedic, nurse, pharmacist or physiotherapy background who is ready to take this next step in their career.
The successful candidate will be committed to completing their MSc in Advanced Practice and working towards credentialing with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM). The ED ACP is an autonomous role and you will develop the skills and competencies to work as an independent practitioner in all areas of the ED - resus, majors, high care, urgent care and paediatrics.
The ED team at the RUH has an expanding ACP team, led by a Consultant Nurse, who is a dual (adult & paediatric) RCEM credentialed ACP. You will be allocated a Consultant educational supervisor, who will support your development and training, as well as support from the ACP team. You will have protected non clinical time and band 8a will be awarded on meeting the achieved standard in the ED. The ED has a strong focus on education and training, and a bespoke ED ACP faculty of consultants and senior ACP's who monitor progress, training and development of our ACP team.
Informal visits welcome.

The Emergency Department trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) will develop the competencies and experience to deliver expert and autonomous assessment, examination, treatment and diagnosis to a range of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. The tACP will provide care to the whole age range and in all areas of the ED - resus, majors, urgent care and the paediatric area. The ACP will provide effective care through clinical audit and continuous quality improvement, implementing evidence-based practice and by involvement in the clinical governance process. The tACP will work towards completion of the MSc in Advanced Practice and RCEM credentialing. A professional portfolio will be developed and maintained demonstrating advanced practice in all four pillars - clinical, leadership/service improvement, education and research. The trainee ACP will have an 80% clinical component to their role, with 20% committed to education, clinical audit and continuing professional development.
