We are very proud of our Apprentice success rates, with 92% of Apprentices successfully obtaining a substantive post within the Trust at the end of their Apprenticeship contract, and 98% of Apprentices having further plans in place following their Apprenticeship e.g. going on to further education, joining the NNUH staff bank or obtaining employment at another organisation.
This is an opportunity to join the stroke admin team, based on Ingham ward, as an apprentice admin assistant. The apprentice role will be supporting the data team, the secretarial team, and the ward clerks. This will give the successful candidate an overview of a variety of admin duties within the ward environment.

Main duties of the job
The Apprentice will develop skills that will enable them to assist with providing support for the stroke admin team. The work will encompass inputting data, producing reports and liaising with relevant staff groups to retrieve and identify information, supporting the secretarial team with answering the phone and typing letters. The aim will be for the Apprentice to become a confident admin assistant who is able to communicate well, provide information and help to resolve any problems that may arise.
The Apprentice will need to be able to communicate well with patients and their relatives, the general public and a wide range of multi-professional staff, internal and external to the Trust.

- Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
- Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above
- Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education upon the start of their apprenticeship

- 4 GCSE's at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent) subject to the job specification
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To assist with administrative back-up to the Admin Manager and Operational Manager
- To help deal with the telephone, e-mail and written communications in relation to any incoming queries to the stroke admin office.
- Assist with the review of weekly/ monthly performance and action on reported issues related to any administrative function. Flag up difficulties/ concerns being reported to identify if further action is required.
- Assist with producing routine reports for both data and secretarial teams.
- Help to ensure data is readily available to relevant staff groups.
- To assist with ensuring that performance deadlines are met when submitting data.
- Ensure actual or potential difficulties are reported to the Admin Manager and Operational Manager
- Promote the use of software positively within the Trust.
- Participate in staff meetings and training initiatives.
- To undertake training to enable the post holder to be fully conversant with all reception/appointment duties within Stroke department.
