As part of an expanding team, a position has arisen for an ICT Infrastructure Engineer within the Networking team.
The successful candidate will work within a small team of specialist engineers to help support, maintain, manage, develop and deliver the Trusts existing and future network systems.
You will play a key part in helping to support these important systems and be instrumental in ensuring that our physical and logical networking systems are maintained and managed to work effectively and efficiently, ensuring a stable and robust network infrastructure. You will gain exposure to a range of other technologies and solutions, including, network and server technologies, incident and problem management, service monitoring and will be involved in a range of broader ICT infrastructure projects.
We are looking for an experienced and hard-working professional with significant experience in relevant technologies and concepts.
Working knowledge and experience of the following would be advantageous:
Cisco IOS,
Cisco Firewalls,
Cisco Switch and Routing protocols
Wireless networks
MS DHCP and DNS services
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide support activities in line with department's operating procedures, ensuring the smooth running of the Trusts ICT infrastructure.
To be responsible for maintaining the Trusts ICT Infrastructure, ensuring that facilities are available, reliable and performing as expected.
This role will periodically be required to work alongside Engineers from other ICT Infrastructure and Technical Support teams, other local Trusts, and external suppliers to ensure that the underlying IT Infrastructure is maintained and available.
The nature of the post will mean that some activities will require work outside of normal office hours.

- To provide expert ICT infrastructure management, support and development services to the Trust in order to support the availability, reliability and efficiency of the Trusts clinical and business applications and systems.
- Reporting to the Lead ICT Infrastructure Engineer, the IT Infrastructure Engineer will provide a resource for the Trust in the planning, implementation, configuration, maintenance and support of a large and complex ICT Infrastructure.
- To be a technical expert within their section/area of the ICT Infrastructure Team. To provide specialist advice and guidance to other areas of ICT, Information Systems and the wider Trust to ensure the smooth introduction of new ICT systems and technologies into the Trust.
- To undertake management, maintenance and administration functions for the numerous hardware and software systems within their designated area. To ensure that the Trusts infrastructure and systems are operated securely.
- To contribute to the development, maintenance and use of technical documentation and management processes in support of internal policy, operational procedures and quality standards.

- in-depth knowledge of the core technologies employed within the Trust to include:
- Microsoft Windows Client operating systems,
- Microsoft Office,
- Microsoft Windows Server operating systems including Active Directory (and associated domain services),
- Server and Desktop virtualisation technologies (including VMWare vSphere and Horizon),
- Mobile device systems (including Apple iOS, Google Android and Mobile Device Management systems),
- Server application technologies (including MS SQL Server),
- Microsoft Exchange,
- Networking technologies Cisco, Ethernet, TCP/IP, Firewall,
- IT Security and associated technologies.
Desirable
- Evidence of formal technical training and/or qualification in one or more of the core technologies

- To demonstrate either:
- Hold a degree or a higher certificate/diploma in an IM& T subject plus demonstrable practical experience of supporting a large ICT infrastructure.

- Hold a recognised vendor technical qualification in a relevant technology/ discipline.

- Have significant practical experience of supporting ICT infrastructure technologies in a large organisation at a senior level.
