An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the SWLSTG NHS Trust, Community Service Line Senior Leadership Team. We are looking for a focused and highly motivated individual to join the management team in the role of Business Manager with a key focus on day-to-day co-ordination of the Senior Leadership Team and our key areas of work for our Services.

This post is pivotal in providing key administrative and business management support to ensure the delivery of a quality patient focused service. The post holder will join an established and supportive senior leadership team in the community and will be required to work with management and clinical teams across our five boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Merton, Wandsworth and Sutton.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to manage the day to day operational aspects of service delivery, with a focus on achieving and monitoring key performance areas, supporting service improvement and helping us to me our objectives. The post holder will be required to develop professional relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders in order to support the business functions of the Community Service Line.

The ideal candidate will have business acumen, with experience working in a busy management environment with a particular focus on achieving key performance targets and supporting a motivated team to develop and deliver on agreed business plans.

The role would suit someone with a proven track record in administration and project management. For the right person this is a role that is both demanding and challenging, but also rewarding, with the chance to develop your skills and career in a supporting Trust.

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our �150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Job description

Job responsibilities

The Business Manager is responsible for enabling the effective operation of the Community Service Line through high quality administrative support to the senior leadership team. This will include providing personal support such as diary management, coordination of key service line meetings and working proactively to enable issues to be resolved promptly. The post-holder will support the development of key pieces of work such as the service line business plan and strategy.

This will entail excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high standard of organisation. The Business Manager will work on their own initiative and be expected to demonstrate strong integrity and commitment to Trust values

The Business Manager will be proactive in identifying issues that require particular attention to avoid escalation and acting as a key channel for communication between the Service Line, the Executive Directors, corporate services, colleagues within the service line, Clinical Managers and ACDs, as well as external partners such as Local Authorities, ICB and patients and carers.

There will be a constant need for the Business Manager to handle confidential and sometimes very contentious and sensitive information of a personal, financial and sensitive nature and will therefore be relied upon to observe and comply with specific and implied confidentiality rules and policies.

The Business Manager will support the Community Service Line Management Team, as directed by the Clinical Director, Deputy COO, Head of Nursing and Quality and Deputy HOSD, in the efficient and effective operational management of resources within the Service Line in order to deliver continually improving high quality patient care within the resources available.

The Business Manager will take responsible for the portfolio of the Clinical Director, Deputy COO and Head of Nursing and Quality, which may include leadership support for major projects. This aspect will engender the appropriate level of responsibility reflective of a Band 7 key skills and knowledge framework.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification or demonstrable experience
  • Healthcare Management qualification or equivalent in related field.


Desirable

  • Project management training


Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing teams in a mental health or performance management environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate budget management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop staff in a range of disciplines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS Structures
  • Experience of service development/service review and leading on successful implementation of change.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own work and that of others to meet required deadlines
  • Experience of successfully developing, implementing & managing performance management and business systems
  • Experience of a range of IT in a performance management and business systems context. Including familiarity with information technology in order to produce spreadsheets, reports and statistics.
