• To support and deputise for the Ward Sister to ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and other resources.
• To co-ordinate the day-to-day management of the ward/department and ensure excellent communication is maintained.

Belgrave Ward is a very busy general cardiology ward and is part of the newly formed Cardiology Clinical Academic Group to further developments in Cardiology.

We now have a permanent position for a Senior Staff Nurse (band 6) to provide day to day leadership of this busy 24 bedded cardiology ward.Belgrave Ward is a dynamic ward that is changing with the increasing demands on the St George's Cardiology service, a regional tertiary centre delivering high quality care.

You will be expected to work as an excellent role model providing excellent patient care as you develop your excellent clinical skills and leadership. You will be part of multi-disciplinary team working together to provide quality service provision, excellent clinical management and safe and effective discharge processes.So if you are ambitious and have excellent leadership skills and can make a real difference for caring for cardiology patients this is the job for you.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• RN (general)
• Minimum of three years post registration experience, of which 18 months within the speciality
• Awareness of professional responsibilities
• Knowledge of current nursing issues

Desirable

• 12 Lead ECG course
• HDU or CCU experience.

Organisational Management

Essential

• Ability to prioritise work and to co- ordinate the ward or department
• Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care according to individual needs
• Demonstrates an understanding of the application of leadership skills
• Has good verbal and written communication abilities
• Reliable with a good attendance record

Desirable

• Computer literate
• Understanding of change management tools and principles

Education and Research

Essential

• Demonstrates knowledge of the application of evidence based practice
