We have an exciting opportunity for registered healthcare professionals to join the Urology non surgical oncology team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as an advanced clinical practitioner. We are looking to appoint an ACP who will develop clinical skills within our service and oversee the CNS team.

Successful post holders will be supported to work autonomously delivering care to urology oncology patients undergoing SACT treatment and follow up patients.

Main duties of the job

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will work autonomously as a practitioner. They will undertake clinical assessments for acute, emergency, and elective oncology patients. They will order and carry out investigations and initiate treatments within defined competence and protocols in collaboration with the senior clinicians and multi-professional team.

The ACP will lead, develop, implement, and evaluate the delivery of elective assessment services.

They will provide leadership and clinical support to nurses working in the service in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary and senior nursing team.

The person will work within a team but also on their own initiatives, they should enjoy a fast-paced challenging environment.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with Valid NMC registration or Health Care Professional and registered with HCPC with relevant clinical experience
  • Willing and able to successfully complete a full Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice - which may be via the apprenticeship route
  • Post Graduate qualification in Advanced Practice
  • Advanced Physical Assessment module, Non-Medical Prescribing (if part of proposed role)
  • Advanced life support qualification (ALS/ILS) or willingness to undertake
  • Evidence of relevant continuous professional development


Desirable

  • Recognised Teaching & Assessment Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Recognised Leadership Award/qualification or equivalent experience


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an extended role with experience of autonomous practice
  • Evidence of portfolio of practice and sign off of competence
  • Experience of delivering training / education to others


Desirable

  • Experience of undertaking service improvement activity
  • Evidence of contribution to audit and research programs
  • Experience of training, supervising and assessing competence of junior colleagues (medical staff / ACP's / NMAHPs)
  • Clinical / managerial leadership experience, including line management of staff, e.g., sickness/absence, recruitment/selection


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • In depth knowledge of pathophysiology of common conditions seen in the speciality and their management
  • Able to analyse and synthesise patient information to formulate appropriate diagnoses and management plans
  • High standard of written and verbal communication - able to present and receive complex information and communicate effectively with all grades of staff and patients / families
  • Can prioritise and manage own workload and support junior personnel in managing theirs when faced with conflicting pressures
  • Ability to manage self and maintain professional conduct in difficult and challenging situations


Desirable

  • Effective leadership, negotiation and reasoning skills with the ability to influence, coach and motivate others
  • Knowledge and experience of bespoke advanced practice appraisal processes e.g., Practitioner E-Portfolio & CASP
  • Excellent presentation skills
