The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service is currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 5 or soon to be qualified Speech Language Therapist to be part of the Epic Learning provision within the Youth Offending Service. The post is based in the Doncaster area, assessing and supporting young people with identified speech, language and communication needs.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide Speech and Language Therapy to young people open to EPIC learning, functioning in partnership with other agencies and disciplines to support in the holistic assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children and young people known to the service.
  • To manage the caseload at EPIC Learning to provide a high standard of assessment, management, treatment and advice to meet the needs of young people.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues in education, health, social care, local authority and other agencies to meet the needs of young people. Colleagues at EPIC Learning include teacher, support workers, assistant psychologist, health and wellbeing worker.
  • To work with the Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Youth Justice Service to maintain, develop and promote excellence in clinical practice with reference to current research and evidence based practice.
  • To work with other members of the team in the development of the service.
  • To ensure Clinical Governance is integral to service delivery within the specialty area.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Professional specific degree i.e. BSC speech sciences or Masters in medical sciences.
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council or working towards their registration post qualification
  • Car driver


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Relevant undergraduate experience of working with a paediatric caseload
  • Relevant undergraduate experience of working with a range of assessment tools and appropriate therapeutic interventions


Desirable

  • Relevant undergraduate experience of working with children with special educational needs
  • Relevant undergraduate experience of working with multidisciplinary teams
