Main duties of the job
The MK Sp CAMHS Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT) is a new provision in Milton Keynes. It is a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) of mental health professionals providing a 24-hour, 7 day per week service to young people experiencing an acute mental health crisis. The team will provide an alternative to acute hospital admission by delivering intensive community-based interventions. Where a hospital admission does occur, the MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT will assist in shortening the inpatient stay by facilitating early discharge and support back to the community. The role of MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT is conduct urgent Comprehensive Mental Assessments for service users and determine as required the need for either home treatment or admission. MK Sp CAMHS-CRHTT will robustly review young people who may require an acute admission and consider if they can provide a less restrictive alternative to hospital admission.
The post holder will be expected to lead the development of the psychology provision in the team, working with CAMHS, the general hospital, parents and carers and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of psychologically informed care within the team. They will be part of the assessment and formulation of young people's needs, and oversee psychological interventions. In this relatively new role the experienced post holder will have creative freedom to find the most effective ways of meeting best practice guidance.
