We are looking for 2 new post holders who will have overall responsibility for one of the following portfolios: Applicants will be considered for either or both.

1. Responsibility for medical education and training in our Kent and Canterbury Medical Education Centre and for our General Practice Specialty Training Programme and Community Programmes (across all sites). In addition, responsibility overall across the whole department for a portfolio including:

Departmental staff training

Recruitment, induction, faculty training for those in educator roles Vacancies in training posts Locally employed doctors Induction of training and other doctors into new posts and rotations International Medical Graduate doctors Innovation and sustainability. 2. Responsibility for medical education and training in our Critical Care, Anaesthetics, Specialist Surgeries Care group and Diagnostics, Buckland and Dover Care group (across all sites). In addition, responsibility overall across the whole department for a portfolio including: Comms, PR, marketing inc . website and intranet presence Events Income generation Estates Management and oversight of the work of the Simulation Department Management and oversight of the work of the Clinical Photography and Illustration Department Pastoral support including medical students, training and other doctors and medical education staff. Main duties of the job

Responsibility for the support of medical education services across the care groups this includes the provision of a comprehensive service, responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of professional teaching activities, training programmes, CPD, induction and skills training for medical students and junior doctors

Provide specialist knowledge and guidance on medical education Ensure data collection and reporting processes are in place, which are necessary for quality control and training service development and measurement against performance metrics.

Develop strong and effective, collaborative relationships with the other Senior Medical Education Managers.

Develop networks with all stakeholders and partners across the region e.g. Medical Education Managers, DMEs, medical schools, other Trusts, Directors of Undergraduate Medical Education and to share best practice Support full range of training programmes and complex educational activities, including identification of training opportunities and co-ordination of projects to assess and/or improve medical education.

Oversee the development and implementation of new education programmes at the Trust.

Work with clinical leadership teams to ensure effective joint working to deliver against education action plans and care group service delivery plans. Provide all business reports for the care groups leadership teams. See Full Job Description

Qualifications and training

Essential

  • 4+ years experience as a senior medical education manager or 4+ years as a senior manager ideally in the NHS or 3+ years in a training or education role


Desirable

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent Project management qualification


Personal/professional attributes

Essential

  • Lead, manage and support colleagues in all areas of the Medical Education Department as the role requires and as circumstances demand


Other requirements

Essential

  • Must demonstrate personal integrity, credibility and flexibility.
  • Ability to navigate, and help others to, through uncertainty, change and risk.


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive management experience (7+ years) working in an NHS or industry setting.
  • Extensive experience of quality assurance and governance.
  • Experience of strategic and operational thinking, policy/service development, business planning and decision making
  • Experience of financial procedures and managing budgets
  • Experience of dealing with conflict and working with colleagues to agree remedial action as required.


Desirable

  • Experience of dealing with conflict and working with colleagues to agree remedial action as required.
  • 2+ years experience in a chief of staff role or financial manager or quality assurance and governance role
  • Quality assurance practice and improvement planning


Skills

Essential

  • Strong leadership, support and motivational abilities, highly effective change management and quality improvement skills Well-developed business planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with clinical and non-clinical management and deliver a range of task and projects to tight deadlines
  • Collection and collation of data and systematic analysis and reporting , effective use of Microsoft Office and Outlook - with other demonstrable levels of digital literacy as outlined in HEE's Digital Capabilities Framework


Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience of database and spreadsheet usage at a high leve
  • Internet and web page update and design
