The Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for you, a motivated and inspirational midwife, to join our Maternity Department as a Midwifery Workforce Development, Retention and Recruitment Midwife.

This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your clinical, leadership and organisational skills to support the recruitment and retention of bands 2 to 6 within the maternity department at Homerton. We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join our specialist midwifery team.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as an expert practitioner on current challenges and issues relating to midwifery practice and across maternity services.
  • Work closely with senior managers on effective recruitment strategies to reduce vacancy rates.
  • To plan and manage full recruitment campaigns for Band 2 to 6 roles through the end-to-end process in response to Trust/divisional needs.
  • To lead on and co-ordinate the recruitment process for Band 2 to 6 roles, including advertising, shortlisting, interviewing and appointment processes that keep vacancies to the shortest time possible.
  • To oversee the placement of new vacancies on the Applicant Tracking System as required
  • Update vacancies and applicants through the Applicant Tracking System as and when required
  • To plan and arrange opportunities for informal visits for potential recruits.
  • Engage with the Homerton's current and former workforce as well as staff survey data (National Staff Survey, Exit, Friends and Family) to identify and understand key local retention issues and propose a response.
  • Develop and implement an action plan based on staff survey results to support wellbeing and job satisfaction for new recruits and existing employees.
  • To maintain own skills by undertaking regular clinical work as required within the maternity unit.
  • Maintain and develop professional knowledge and expertise in midwifery, keeping up-to-date with changes in midwifery education and practice.
  • Provide psychological safety and support sessions for staff.
