We are seeking to appoint an experienced Healthcare Scientist to provide clinical and operational leadership for theSleep Service at Manchester Foundation Trust (Trafford and Wythenshawe sites).
The post holder will be supported to maintain a high level of technical and scientific knowledge and expertise intheir specialist discipline.
The Sleep Service at MFT has a national and international reputation for the comprehensive and extensive servicesoffered for the diagnosis and management of sleep related breathing disorders and other adult sleep disordersincluding:
This is a unique opportunity to join a growing, established, multidisciplinary team, consisting of six consultants whospecialise in sleep and ventilation, clinical physiologists with international polysomnography accreditation, a clinicalpsychologist, a dietician, administrative and secretarial support.
The postholder who joins our team will have a leading role in shaping the future of the Sleep Service at MFT as wellas exciting opportunities to be involved in pioneering research and innovation.

Main duties of the job
- Work closely with the divisional leadership team to help develop a service strategy with a focus on innovationand excellence.
- Support and manage a team of healthcare scientific staff including recruitment, appraisal, continualprofessional development (CPD) and training.
- Provide oversight and specialist advice to the team as the lead expert.
- Responsibility for the budget and the resources of the Department.
- Work with higher education institutes to develop and deliver training programmes for the workforce of thefuture.
