Trauma and Orthopaedics Pre-Assessment Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Pre-Operative Assessment Service. We are looking for an enthusiastic Nurse wishing to utilise and further develop their skills and knowledge in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate must hold the HCT181(DE70) Qualification for this post.

Main duties of the job

The Pre Assessment Nurses role is essential to ensure that patients who require surgery are supported, well informed in relation to the planned surgery, pre and post operative care and that their pathway is as efficient as possible.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a full fitness for surgery health assessment, planning individual patient care in relation to elective surgery and Anaesthetic working within guidelines and PGD's agreed locally and liaising with the multidisciplinary team.

The person must be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and a clinical patient assessment qualification and will need to have excellent communication skills.

Knowledge of Orthopaedic nursing would be advantageous however training can be given to the successful candidate.

The candidate must be able to work as part of a well establish team and also make decisions alone .

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Education/Qualifications/Skills

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or working towards
  • Registered General Nurse
  • Relevant experience as a senior ward nurse or practitioner at band 5 or above
  • Pre-operative assessment training/clinical assessment - HCT181(D70) qualification


Job Related Skills/Abilities

  • Able to demonstrate how to overcome resistance or barriers to change
  • Willingness to develop clinical skills in relation to the post/service needs
