An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to provide nursing leadership to the team within our Cardiac Intervention Unit in Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient centre care within the ward and supporting effective team working. With an opportunity develop clinical and managerial skills by rotating to Ward 7.You should have post registration experience within an acute cardiology clinical setting with some support to develop management and leadership experience. The applicant will work with Ward Manager, Matron and Consultant cardiologist to lead the team, ensuring the provision of safe, high-quality care to all patients requires elective cardiac procedures , including in-patients required emergency cardiac interventions.The applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills, liaising with the MDT and other agencies in supporting with patient's flow and ensuring a positive patients journey and experience.. You are required to act in a manner that upholds the values of the trust and that of the profession, ensuring that service delivered contributes to supporting the principles of clinical governance.

Main duties of the job

Act as a Clinical Nurse leader you are to ensure the needs of patients are recognised and met by the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.You will also supervise and monitor care-planning process. You will take steps to deal with, and notify the Ward Manager/Matron of any difficulty in the care planning process and in implementing planned care.Responsible in leading the CIU team in the provision of care, and maintaining and implementing change in the nursing process. Support others in the process clinical incident & safe guarding patients when applicable.Act as a point of liaison for multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working in order to achieve the best possible outcome for patient care. You will notify the Matron of any deficits in service provision from other agencies.

Support others in the process clinical incident & safe guarding patients when applicable.Act as a point of liaison for multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working in order to achieve the best possible outcome for patient care.Provide registered nurse support to junior nursing staff and participate in the teaching & supervision of all staff receiving training in this area.Maintain the Trusts aims and objectives within the clinical settingAccountable and responsible for accurate and legible record keeping in accordance with local policies and NMC guidelinesAdminister Intravenous drugs in accordance with Trust policiesUndertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the patients and register any additional skills acquired as a result of enhanced practiceEnsure that staff are optimal deployed to meet the needs of patients for example working in ward area & ensuring that others on the shift assist colleagues in other areas & adhere to SOP & Trust guideline.Actively participate in and lead on service improvements in Planned CareActively involved in supporting students during their placement.
