If you are an experienced Paediatric physiotherapist working with children and young people with respiratory physio needs and in particular CF, this post could be for you.
This post is working within UHB Trust, based at BHH, with some community visits and networking with local and regional links.
The post holder will work with both inpatients and outpatients, within the MDT supporting children and young people with respiratory physio needs. You will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals to promote the development, planning and delivery of intervention programmes and training in the specialist clinical area.
The postholder will join a paediatric therapies service and work alongside colleagues supporting, planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the inpatient and outpatient paediatric therapy service.
Applicants will be required to participate in the departmental respiratory and paediatric overnight on-call system and 7 day working rota within the paediatric and respiratory therapy teams.
This post is based at our Heartlands site, however, as the Trust is a multi-site organisation you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites and may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis because of development or reorganisation of Trust services.
Main duties of the job
To deliver advanced respiratory assessment, management and treatment of paediatric patients including those requiring NIV and HDU care with diverse presentations and complex conditions to develop and deliver individualised specialist treatment programmes.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.
To supervise, initiate and participate in regular evidence-based audit and research projects to further clinical practice. Make recommendations to Clinical Team Leader for changes to practice by the team. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols within area of practice.
To use advanced communication skills of persuasion, negotiation, motivation and explanation to address informal complaints and encourage patients, carers and/or staff where there will often be barriers to effective communication which could include compromised speech / functional / cognitive ability, resistance, fear, pain or embarrassment.
To effectively communicate with patients, carers and all relevant individuals, departments and agencies to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of the condition and therapeutic process.

- *Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent
