With increased activity and demand for high quality patient centred care we are expanding our surgical activity with the opening of St Austell Elective Surgical Hub. This vacancy is based at our St Austell site, working flexibly across all areas of the surgical pathway.
We seek a flexible, dynamic and adaptable practitioner with excellent communication and organisational skills and most importantly, unlimited enthusiasm, to be the accountable lead practitioner in the clinical areas who provides effective, professional clinical leadership and direction for the surgical unit workforce.
Main duties of the job
To be the accountable lead practitioner in the clinical areas who provides effective, professional clinical leadership and direction for the surgical unit workforce.
Through ownership of their clinical area to be absolutely accountable for implementing, driving and monitoring the Quality and Safety agenda and to monitor standards across clinical areas in leadership exchange/partnership initiatives.
To be a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner setting the highest standards of care and ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence based care for all patients / clients.
Ensure the safe, effective and efficient management of all workforce and financial resources.
To act as a role model and skilled practitioner to inspire excellence, constantly demonstrating the highest standards of care and professionalism.
With the support of the Clinical Matron, lead the recruitment and retention of a skilled, competent and effective surgical unit workforce for the clinical area and contribute to the identification of new clinical and support roles within their clinical specialty.
To ensure the development of all staff within their team.

- Relevant professional/clinical qualification (RN/ RODP)
- Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
- Possession of relevant education/teaching certification

- Evidence of experience within operational management in an acute hospital setting in a senior nurse/ODP role.
- Evidence of experience within the relevant speciality / service.
- Effective leadership skills and an understanding of leadership and change management practice.
