The Royal Papworth NHS Hospital Foundation Trust presents an exciting opportunity to join their finance team, as they look to appoint a Senior Technical Accountant. Rated five-times outstanding, Royal Papworth is one of the world's leading cardiothoracic hospitals and the UK's main heart and lung transplant centre.
In this role, reporting into the Head of Finance, you will be tasked with ensuring an efficient financial accounts service is provided to the organisation. This includes delivery of financial accounting and controls, statutory reporting, technical accounting expertise and efficient financial operations. Whilst the post-holder will not assume full responsibility, they will play a key part in the production of Annual Accounts and co-ordination of external and internal audit work. The successful candidate will need to be fully qualified and will also have line management responsibility of at least two Financial Accountants, so demonstrable leadership experience is required.

Main duties of the job
*Preparation of Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Cash Flow within month end deadlines for reporting to NHS Improvement and inclusion in the Finance Board report.
*Monitor Trust's cash position and prepare a daily cash forecast. Report cash position to senior management.
*Report on aged debt position. Responsible for monitoring and pro-actively supporting the progress of debt collection. Identify action that can be taken to assist in debt collection. Support the operational teams in this action.
*Monitor the level of aged creditors and ensure action is taken to clear aged creditors. This includes monitoring the Trust BPPC target and working with the operational team to improve the target.
*A key player in ensuring the Trust's year end accounts are prepared within the NHSI deadlines and are signed off with an unqualified opinion.
*Responsible for ensuring that the Charity accounts are prepared within deadlines and are signed off with an unqualified opinion.
*Prepare the Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Cash Flow for the annual plan submission.
*Produce technical accounting papers to use with discussions with auditors.
*Liaise with internal and external auditors during annual audits of financial systems and annual accounts for both the Trust and Charity.
