Brant Ward is an 18 bedded acute assessment ward for older adults experiencing complex mental health problems. We are within the Older Persons and Frailty division and we are recruiting Band 5 nurses and we want people who are passionate and driven to join our growing team who strive to deliver brilliant standards of care.

Brant Ward has embarked upon developing person centred, evidence-based practice ensuring that the patient is at the centre of all we do making this an ideal time to join our team. Brant Ward is a pivotal part of the acute care pathway working closely with our Home Treatment Team to ensure the highest quality care.
Main duties of the job
To be part of an integrated health/social care team providing inpatient care for service users suffering from serious and enduring mental illness.
Offering nursing interventions in a wide variety of clinical, therapeutic and social forms with the aim of promoting mental health well being, self autonomy and independence.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care, in liaison with the care team in the capacity of a mental health nurse
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day to day management of the ward, monitoring and auditing ensuring the nursing team delivers high quality care to patients who access our service.
Taking up name nurse responsibilities proudly for patients and working collaboratively with members of the MDT and outside agencies

Job responsibilities
Our focus of care is to provide assessment and treatment for our patients in a safe and compassionate environment. We are committed to delivering person centred care around the values of the 6 Cs and the staff nurse role is critical to this.
The successful candidate(s) must be able to lead a team forward with these values, helping develop our vision to create a centre of excellence, to aim for and maintain high standards of care.
The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate an understanding of the complexities and challenges that can present for patients with mental health conditions and for their carers
The hours are 37.5 per week worked on a shift basis to cover 24 hour period to include nights and weekends.
A full induction package will be offered, access to training, regular supervision, annual appraisal and a commitment to developing staff to their full potential.
The salary for these posts is depending upon relevant experience.

- RMN or RNLD or RN: 1st Level Registration (NMC) or degree or equivalent
- Evidence of specialised continued professional training in clinical practice.
Experience

- Relevant experience of working with mental health needs.
- Sound knowledge of the national agenda for mental health.
- Sound knowledge of clinical/risk assessment and understanding of Information Government principles.
- Demonstrating supportive and sensitive communication to patients, carers and staff, whilist demonstrating an understanding of the nature and effects of some information and barriers to effective communication whilst being considerate of client confidentiality.

- Previous experience working as a registered mental health nurse with people with mental health problems.
