Are you a motivated pharmacist with an interest in both physical/ mental health?
Are you looking for a role with good work-life balance?
To provide a patient-focussed clinical pharmacy service within an Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient unit on the Royal Preston Hospital Site. Working with multi-disciplinary colleagues the role involves a focus on medicines optimisation for both physical and mental health conditions. As a purely clinical service there is currently no pharmacy-based dispensary commitment, on-call, bank holiday or weekend working.
The role offers the ideal opportunity for a pharmacist who may wish to enhance their knowledge within mental health. Hospital and/or mental health experience is desirable but not essential as we have an in-house award-winning training programme to support the successful candidate. We are also able to offer the opportunity to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Therapeutics through Aston University. We can also offer other courses and training events to support future clinical, professional and personal development. As a trust we embrace digital solutions and have electronic prescribing embedded within our inpatient service and electronic care records throughout our services.
As a purely clinical service there is currently no pharmacy-based dispensary commitment, bank holiday or weekend working. Due to the location of various units, an ability and willingness to travel around Trust locations may be required.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our expanding and highly supportive team as a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist. The successful applicant will be working alongside members of the multi-disciplinary team to support prescribing and offer specialist clinical pharmacy advice to healthcare colleagues and service users. The role will involve proactive clinical pharmacy reviews, medicines optimisation, responding to medicines information queries, audits, attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings, training and staff development. The role also involves working in partnership with Pharmacy Technicians and providing support to other members of the Pharmacy team through clinical supervision. The role requires an organised, flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work on their own initiative.
