We are looking for someone with substantial experience of working in medical education within an NHS Trust to work two days a week (15 hours per week on Mondays and Fridays), as job-share with our current Strategic Medical Education Manager who is reducing their hours to three days a week.

The MEM is responsible for the leadership, management and coordination of the Trust's undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes and medical education centre resources. The post holder works closely with the Director of Medical Education to provide strategic direction, specialist medical training knowledge, planning and leadership to the medical education team.

Supporting the Director of Medical Education in developing, managing and delivering a range of high quality and cost effective educational services within the Trust to specifications required by HEE, associated Medical Schools and the Trust's strategic and operational framework. This will include management responsibility for monitoring performance and achieving targets set for service delivery for Medical Education.

Main duties of the job

  • Monitoring and ensure the Trust's education, training and trainee programmes comply with the requirements of General Medical Council, HEE, the Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties, and affiliated undergraduate Medical Schools.
  • Have overall management of the Postgraduate Education Centre and line management responsibility for Centre Staff, directing and advising the Deputy Medical Education Manager and Quality and Operations Manager (who have direct line responsibility), where appropriate.
