We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual, to join our expanding team, to lead on the education, training and workforce development of the pre-registration pharmacy technical team and support staff.

This position will focus on providing our staff with excellent training to become skilled, highly competent and confident in their job roles. The post holder would also have the opportunity to further develop themselves.

There will be a large focus on quality assurance ensuring training programmes meet regulatory and funding requirements. Successful candidates will be responsible for service improvement in response to the changing needs of learners and patients ensuring training programmes remain of a high quality and relevant to the needs of patients.

The role will involve working 30 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Please note this post is subject to a probationary period of six months.

Main duties of the job

  • Leading on the delivery and training for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support staff
  • Overseeing, developing and delivering structured training programmes and schedules for apprentices of all levels, and sourcing suitable training providers to deliver courses
  • Planning and prioritising your own workload and organising staff training in liaison with other service managers
  • Be a direct line manager for the pre-registration pharmacy technicians
  • Participate in the delivery of Medicines Optimisation including supporting dispensary and ward based services
  • Finally accuracy checking in the dispensary as rostered.
  • Role model for all pharmacy staff

Your core role will be working with the Chief Pharmacy Technician and the Clinical Pharmacist Team Leader for Education & Training to develop and manage education and training for our team. As a keen team player with excellent communication and leadership skills, you should be able to inspire people to achieve their potential and shape the future of our pharmacy workforce.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BTEC National Certificate in Science (Pharmaceutical) or equivalent qualification
  • Undertaken Educational Supervisor Training with accredited provider


Desirable

  • A1 Assessor or D32/33 Assessor award
  • V1 Internal Verifier award (or working toward)


Experience

Essential

  • At least four years experience of Technical pharmacy service delivery with at least two years post qualification
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring staff
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK


Skills

Essential

  • Able to analyse and interpret a wide range of technical information
  • Numeracy skills
  • Able to assess staff performance against agreed standards and criteria, and to provide feedback and development
