We are delighted to offer this new and exciting vacancy to join the pharmacy team and assist in developing the pharmacy workforce across the trust.

We are looking for pharmacy technician who is motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about pharmacy education and training and workforce development to join our team to support training of our apprentices, pharmacy support workers, pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician and pharmacy technicians.

This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy technician who loves communicating and has an urge to teach and learn.

Main duties of the job

To facilitate the training in medicine management and medicines optimisation for all relevant pharmacy staff members within the Trust.

Provide training and support to facilitate the attainment of level 2 standards in Pharmacy Services and 3 standards in Pharmacy Technician (Integrated).

To assist in supporting the pharmacy apprentices.

To undertake the duties of a Pharmacy Technician- Extended Role working in the ward environment and accuracy checking in the absence of no training of staff required.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is a qualified registered Pharmacy Technician who has the experience, knowledge and skills to perform a broad and demanding range of activities.

To facilitate the training in medicine management and medicines optimisation for all relevant pharmacy staff members within the Trust.

Essential requirement of this role is:-
  • Nationally recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification such as NVQ3 and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Services or equivalent level
  • Plus specialist training and/or demonstrable experience to degree or equivalent level
  • Willingness to participate in continuing professional development.
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Holds a Nationally/Regionally accredited Technician Checker qualification or willingness to undertake in house training

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • oNationally recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification such as NVQ3 and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Services or equivalent level
  • oPlus specialist training and/or demonstrable experience to degree or equivalent level
  • oWillingness to participate in continuing professional development.

Occupational Experience

Essential

  • oDemonstrable relevant experience working within a Pharmacy environment ideally from a hospital pharmacy setting, but not necessary as relevant training will be provided.
  • oEvidence of post qualification experience at Band 4/5


Desirable

  • oExperience of a changing working environment
  • oExperience in hospital pharmacy which included medicine reconciliation, patient counselling and use of patients own drugs
