Do you have a strong track record of delivering projects within a complex environment? Are you interested in medical research and passionate about using your skills to have a positive impact on people's lives?

A opportunity has opened as a Project Manager working across two of our research themes (Dermatology: Cutaneous Inflammation and Repair, and Integrative Cardiovascular Medicine) which are part of the Inflammation Cluster in the Manchester Biomedical research centre. You will work across these two themes, splitting your time equally.

Across these themes poly-omics, genetic medicine, immunopathology, and phenotyping are conducted to further develop the understanding of disease pathways, course and treatment. It is hoped that these translational studies will lead to the development of a new generation of personalised therapeutics.

You will be an essential member of our cross-disciplinary and Greater Manchester-wide team, responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring systems to manage BRC projects and programmes of work and spend. With a keen eye for detail, you will identify risks and ensure that appropriate mitigation is applied to ensure that quality standards are met and projects are delivered on time and to budget to meet BRC objectives. You will play a crucial role in fostering the development of new collaborations within the BRC partnership as well as with external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The Manchester NIHR BRC is committed to improving the lives of people- our patients, our communities, our volunteers, our workforce and our partners. We educate, influence, and collaborate to conduct research that enhances health and healthcare for everyone. We recognise that we can achieve this only by being inclusive and by encouraging and celebrating diverse perspectives. For these reasons, it is essential that we welcome and include individuals who represent the 21st-century workforce and the diverse population of patients we serve.

Drive delivery of BRC objectives across Themes and Clusters, whilst developing and implementing processes and systems to manage project information.

Provide accurate, timely and high-quality reports on project progress and outputs against forecasts and strategic aims both internally (including to the BRC senior management team) and to external bodies (including the NIHR).

Work with theme/cluster leads, programme leads and key researchers to identify and overcome risks to ensure successful delivery of the theme objectives.

Work with senior research staff within the partner Trusts and University, with the R& I Management Team and with other internal partners (e.g. finance, CRFs) and external partners (including local SMEs, multinational companies, charities, other BRCs and Trusts) to identify and progress collaborations, and develop and deliver projects which add value to the BRC.
