Main duties of the job
To see, treat and assess each individual patient presenting with a minor injury or illness autonomously. To be able to order and interpret blood results and x-ray results and perform general examinations in order to reach a clinical decision. To be able to sign post patients to the correct speciality, to plan follow up where necessary. To offer advice and information in relation to presenting complaint. To perform minor injury treatments such as suturing, plastering, dressings and immunisations. To be able to work independently or as part of a team

Job responsibilities
- Undertake nurse prescribing in accordancewith Trust / Divisional and departmentalpolicies an protocols
- Take responsibility for the development of the service and work in line with the departmental targets to ensure that the team work cohesively in achieving them.
- Staff rosters are efficient and planned inadvance using the electronic rostering system ensuring adequate staffing and skill mix to meet the needs of the patients and inaccordance with the roster policy
- Responsible for recruitment of staff
- Staff sickness and absence is managed inaccordance with Trust policy and electronicrostering system analysis tools are accessed regularly to support monitoring of the delivery of efficient rosters.
- Responsible for staff development andappraisal
- Deals proactively with poor performance inline with Trust Policy and Procedure
- Is responsible for leading and developing the departmental nursing team and supportteams by being a visible and strong rolemodel providing leadership and direction tothe team, capitalising on research anddevelopment opportunities, providing clinical supervision and advice for staff and students in order to support them in reaching their full potential

Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Registered Nurse
- Have a recognised ENP qualification or currently be working towards it.
- Post graduate certificate in None-Medical Prescribing (or achieve within 18 months of appointment)
Desirable
- ALS/APLS
- Adult/paediatric safeguarding.
- Major incident awareness
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Recent experience of working in an emergency department or minor injuries/walk in centre
- Able to perform clinical duties commensurate of the role.
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures that relate to the Emergency department.
- Able to undertake the interpretation and diagnosis of Xrays
- Experience of mentorship and ability to identify learning and development needs
Desirable
- Able to demonstrate up to date working knowledge of Emergency department targets
