We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and reflective applied psychologist who has both passion for and experience of working with older people and their families and/or inpatient contexts.

If you enjoy being an influential part of an ambitious leadership team, are a forward and creative thinker who wants to make a real and meaningful difference to the recovery of older people and support their families, we would be delighted to hear from you. This post would be ideal for someone who has already worked as an experienced applied psychologist in older adult services and/or inpatient settings and is looking for opportunity to extend and apply their skills in a post with leadership responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would work across two older adult wards within which we have established integrated psychological provision over the past 5 years. One of these wards is a 20-bed unit which offers care to older adults with acute functional difficulties and is based in Scarborough. The other is a 14 bedded complex needs dementia ward based in Malton (located between Scarborough and York).

The post holder would provide a much valued and high quality applied psychological provision through consultation, supervision, formulation, training, and participation in clinical governance. You will work with highly complex presentations suitable for an experienced psychologist through applying expertise and knowledge and adapting both formulation and evidence-based approaches in individual and person centred ways. Supervising other professionals and assistant psychologists to deliver lower-level interventions will be an essential aspect of this role.

The post holder will be an integral and key member of ward leadership teams influencing psychological thinking, promotion and support of staff wellbeing. More widely they would make valuable contributions to the development of psychological professional networks across NYYS. All the while supporting the Trust values of compassion, respect and responsibility
