Consultant Psychiatrist - Psychotherapy, Preston (10PA)

This post is eligible for a 5% payment of basic salary payable over 2 years
We are excited to launch the recruitment for this exciting new post. We are seeking a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy to join the current full time Medical Psychotherapist within the Psychotherapy Service currently based at West Strand House in Preston.
You would be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration would be payable.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based in Preston in the short-term but will explore options for developing a 'hub and spoke' model for providing psychotherapy Trust wide. The post holder will work with the current medical psychotherapist to promote the service in other parts of the Trust, including bringing psychodynamic ideas into other settings. The future objective is to make the psychotherapy service more visible and accessible across the Trust.
There is current ongoing work within the Trust in developing PD pathways and there is a possibility for the post holder to be involved in shaping this as well as providing psychological interventions, for example MBT, including formulations for patients with personality disorders.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
