Do you have professional or personal knowledge and understanding of learning disabilities or autism and want to make a difference?

Coventry and Warwickshire's Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Team are recruiting facilitator trainers to deliver online and face-to-face training alongside our lived experience expert co-trainers.

The training will be co-delivered to help people understand their role in supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and the difference they can make to improve care.

We have a big task ahead of us with over 45,000 people to train across health and social care, so we need people who share our passion to get it right for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

The training day will start at 8.30 and finish at 5.30.

Job responsibilities

You will work alongside experts with lived experience co-trainers who will be autistic people and people with a learning disability. You will support them to thrive at work.

The training will be co-delivered to help people understand their role in supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and the difference they can make to improve care. This training will take place both through eLearning (online training), interactive online training sessions and through face-to-face training days.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of education - equivalent of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English or relevant experience


Experience

Essential

  • Experience delivering high quality services to people with a learning disability and autistic people in a professional role such as registered nurse in learning disability, occupational therapist or social worker, or can demonstrate an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Clear experience of proficient and successful delivery of face to face training in health and social care or similar environment.
  • Has experience leading and developing quality practice in others


Knowledge

Essential

  • successful delivery of face to face training in health and social care or similar environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of using learning technologies and digital media Knowledge and experience of a variety of learning and development methodologies and their application, in particular coaching, action learning, and facilitation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of learning disability along with current issues, trends and priorities within the health and social care sector including relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of autism along with current issues, trends and priorities within the health and social care sector including relevant legislation such as the Autism Act 2009.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Human Rights Act 1998, The Equality Act 2010, UK legal valid consent law and DNACPR case law.
  • Robust time and project management skills to ensure the training is delivered on time, with all learning outcomes adequately addressed
  • Ability to deliver a wide range of highly effective training and learning interventions to a wide variety of health and /or social care audiences.
