The Patient Safety Manager will play a key role in the delivery of the Trust's quality and safety programme and effective governance. This role requires individuals who are driven, ambitious and passionate about the provision of high quality, safe and effective care to patients with a desire to influence and work in close partnership with clinical and managerial staff.
The post holder will work across the organisation and with external partners, including commissioners, integrated care boards and patient groups. Support will also be provided to the corporate nursing and medical directorate teams in the delivery of quality governance and ensuring the fundamental standards of quality and safety are met.
Key responsibilities will be to ensure that Care Group colleagues have robust systems for quality, safety and governance in place.
The post holder will actively support the implementation of the Trust Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP) and Policy in line with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
The post holder will ensure thematic review of patient safety incidents are analysed and quality improvement developed and implemented in collaboration with the Divisions/Care Groups and Clinical Governance Leads.
The post holder will investigate patient safety incidents and will lead a number of concurrent investigations
Main duties of the job
Leadership and Strategic Guidance: Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and managing patient safety initiatives.
Performance Monitoring: Establish and maintain key performance indicators, monitor and evaluate patient safety performance, and report findings to senior leadership.
PSIRF Implementation: Contribute to the performance management review process by monitoring and reporting progress against PSIRF implementation, supporting Divisions/Care Groups/SDUs and Clinical Governance Leads in developing quality improvement action plans.
Collaboration for Safe Care: Work with corporate teams and divisions to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care, meeting the fundamental standards of quality and safety under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
Project Leadership: Lead the delivery of Trust-wide projects and programmes related to quality and safety.
Governance Support: Work with corporate nursing and medical directorate teams to ensure quality governance and compliance with safety standards.
Quality and Safety Improvements: Collaborate with Care Groups and clinical governance leads to support and facilitate quality and safety improvements.

- Professional knowledge plus additional specialist clinical governance, patient safety and risk management knowledge acquired through training and experience to Master's level equivalent
