If you are an Occupational Therapist at B6 level, or an experienced B5 OT looking for an innovative OT opportunity, then please apply for this post.

We are looking for a dynamic Occupational Therapist to join the Primary Care Mental Health Team for South Southwark (based at St Giles House in Camberwell). The successful applicant will become part of a solution-focussed and communicative team - working closely with the PCMHT's highly competent and creative Lived Experience Workers, who play an integral part in the smooth running of the OT group program across the two PCMHTs.

PCMHT S provides assessment and liaison support for community mental health teams across Southwark. The post will also provide opportunities to create lasting and progressive partnerships with wide-ranging services whilst being supported by an MDT, and peer supported by a communicative OT network within the trust. The team's OT will work with a broad spectrum of clients with varying needs and interests, supporting them to co-design their own recovery pathway for a 12-week intervention period.

Main duties of the job

Duties with this role include specialist OT assessment, signposting clients to access appropriate community services that can develop their skills sets, socialisation and self-belief. It will further include planning and intervention, provision of adaptive equipment and mobility aids, as well as the creative design and implementation of group sessions - to promote well-being, recovery, and empowering person-centred practice. Although this is a dedicated OT post, the post holder will be required to hold and integrate both the OT specific and generic elements of their job to include care planning and risk assessment. The post holder will participate in the development, delivery, and evaluation of both the Occupational Therapy and MDT interventions and will work closely with colleagues in their team, as well as with OTs in Community Mental Health teams across the borough.

As well as a community Clinical Lead OT and a Team Manager, who will provide close support and supervision the post holder will be working alongside other mental health practitioners such as Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Lived Experience Workers, Welfare Advisors, and Vocational Specialists.
