The Strengthening Families service is jointly commissioned by Cumberland Council, Westmorland & Furness Council and Integrated Care Boards. It is part of a whole system approach to the delivery of services, and as such requires agencies to collaborate to support children, young people and their families to lead a healthy life and maximise their full potential.
The Strengthening Families team will take a systems leadership role, and is required to deliver a holistic health service to families including parents / carers, children and/or young people, aged pre-birth to 18 and in some instances to age 25, that according to the Cumbria's Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP) multi-agency threshold guidance require a statutory intervention.

- Health Expertise contribution to the Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub
- The Partnership Plus element of the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme
- Children in Care Specialist Health Service.
Main duties of the job
Children in Care:
- Be able to meet or work towards achieving level 4 competency as outlined in the Intercollegiate Document Looked After children: Roles and Competencies of Health Care Staff (RCN, 2020)
- Promote good professional practice, regarding the health needs of Children in Care in line with government guidance Promoting the health and Wellbeing of Looked After children (DH, 2015), The Children's Act, 2004
- To participate in the assessment and review of health needs for Children in Care, ensuring that all of their physical and emotional health and wellbeing needs are met
- Be able to act as a source of specialist advice to social workers, foster carers, residential carers and other to facilitate positive health outcomes
- Ensure Seamless transfer of care when children and young people have changes in care arrangements both within and outside of Cumbria
- Act as an advocate and a multiagency partner
Management:
- Be responsible for maintaining all patient contact information using the RiO electronic patient record
- Undertake regular management supervision with their Clinical Lead.
- Be responsible for organising your own work, assessing and planning whilst considering competing priorities and to consider revising workload to meet the changing needs of service users.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings
- Participate in safeguarding, clinical and peer supervision with colleagues as required and as set out within policy.
