The Children's Hearing Centre have a great opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic and well motivated Senior Paediatric Audiologist.

The post holder will be based at the Children's Hearing Centre in Hereford working within a small, dedicated Team.

The post is initially for 1 year.

Main duties of the job

The main role of the Paediatric Audiologist is to provide behavioural assessments and formulate individualised management plans for children of all ages, including fitting and evaluation of hearing devices.

The ideal candidate will be friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude to service development. They will strive to continue providing a family-friendly service that meets the needs of the local population.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications


  • BSc Audiology, PTP Healthcare Science (Audiology) or MSc in audiology with CAC / HTS, or STP in neurosciences (audiology modality)
  • State registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist (audiology modality), with RCCP as an Audiologist or with AHCS as a Healthcare Scientis


  • Sign Language Qualification

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities


  • Ability to take histories and counsel Parents/ Children regarding management options and prognosis for hearing loss
  • Audiological objective and subjective assessment of children with complex requirements
  • Analysis and interpretation of test results to establish the most appropriate care plans
  • Implementation of care plans in conjunction with other professionals, referring patients when required to other professionals
  • Assess for the suitability of hearing aids recognising potential benefits Appropriate use of advanced digital signal processing hearing aids



  • A range of experience to include post qualification experience and CPD activities
  • Evidence of working in a Paediatric Audiology service and broad skills base in this field This should include a wide range of Audiological Assessment methods, (objective and behavioural) e.g. oto-acoustic emissions, complex diagnostic tests including behavioural audiometry
