An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work full-time in an innovative role across two services in Bexley - Acute Inpatient and Community - to improve continuity of care for adult mental health clients. We wish to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with a commitment to both multidisciplinary team working and working with adults presenting with complex mental health difficulties. The continuity role which sits across the two teams is now well-established and valued. You will be welcomed into a well-established and very supportive group of Oxleas Adult Mental Health psychological therapists.

The post is split equally across the Woodlands inpatient unit and the Bexley Intensive Case Management for Psychosis (ICMP) team.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in delivering CBT for Psychosis and Family Interventions for Psychosis, or a willingness to develop these skills through training. Specialist supervision in CBT and Family Interventions for Psychosis is provided, and there is access to further training in these and other approaches. Oxleas has a vibrant CPD Programme and opportunities may be available to work in other areas as part of CPD.

Main duties of the job

The acute inpatient crisis service offers both direct evidence-based psychological interventions and indirect work to impact on wider environment. As a Band 8a Psychologist you would providepsychological assessment, brief crisis interventions to improve the care pathway into the community,group interventions,individualpsychological therapy and risk formulations,crisis planning, input to care planning and discharge planning,family interventions, reflective practice groups for staff.

The community-based part of therole in the ICMP involves continuing psychological input into clients' care as they move on from the ward into the local community team. The role also includes conducting complex psychological assessment for both CBT for Psychosis and Family Intervention as well as delivering one-to-one and group therapy, supervising trainee psychologists, assistant psychologists and qualified psychologists offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to a range of wider services. There is potential for input also into a systemic family clinic linked to the service.

The successful candidates will join highly skilled multi-professional teams that offers mental health services across the London Borough of Bexley. The teams includes clinical and counselling psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, mental health nurses and psychiatrists.

The Trust has a large, well established and supportive psychological therapies service. This provides strong leadership and professional management and supports staff by prioritising supervision and continuing professional development.

Service-related research is encouraged and supported by providing protected time for these activities. There are strong links with Canterbury Christ Church University Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) Training Scheme.   • Completion of further post-doctoral post-qualification specialist training including training in supervision of trainee clinical psychologists

  • Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
