You will be at the forefront of health education and training events, contributing to our commitment to excellence, in a team of six Advanced Diabetes Podiatrists.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to make a real impact within our service by collaborating with well-established multidisciplinary teams in the community, University Hospital North Midlands Hospital, and neighbouring hospitals. Utilising your excellent interpersonal and communication skills you will drive initiatives to improve and enhance outcomes for patients.

The role requires you to hold a Health Care Professions Council registration and to be able to work across a variety of locations in the South Staffordshire district including clinic, hospital wards, outpatients and domiciliary settings.

Provide professional and clinical support and leadership to all staff

Take the lead in the management of complex cases within the field of diabetes / wound management, supporting other staff and co-working when needed

Working with service users to develop outcome focused treatment / support plans

Establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the organisation and external organisations

Provide teaching and training in our specialist area to the wider workforce

Be involved with and be prepared to take the lead in clinical audit / research

Job responsibilities

The post holder will have supervisory, training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate and will have some responsibility for team performance and service developments/improvements, and demonstrate initiative and creativity in finding solutions to problems. The post holder may be required to deputise for the Operational Lead in a professional capacity as required along with supporting and overseeing excellent podiatry practice through mentorship and day to day guidance to team members and other professionals.

Person Specification



  • Degree level relevant professional qualification or equivalent.
  • Registration with HCPC


  • Further clinical study relevant to clinical practice such as management of long term conditions.
  • Masters qualification in relevant area that will support the delivery of the service.



  • Relevant Post Graduate studies/qualification or equivalent clinical courses within area of clinical expertise
  • Up to date field work/pre-registration student training.


  • Experience in a broad range of clinical practice areas in addition to a specialism Evidence of project work.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
